Questions

- What is “cloud computing”

Cloud computing is a way to develop and manage software as a service on the "Web as a Platform". It encompasses and shields developers from the behind-the-scenes complexities, in a similar way that an operating system shields developers from the intricacies of desktop computing.

For example, TeamHost manages user subscriptions and role-based security to provide controlled access to data in a multi-tenant environment. As a developer, you don't need to program these things. TeamHost takes care of the complexities for you.

- How is TeamHost different than .Net, J2EE, Ruby on Rails, etc?

These application frameworks (e.g. .Net, J2EE, RoR) require desktop development tools, coding, debugging, uploading, manually configuring databases, integrating commerce providers, and building out of functionality - often requiring millions of dollars and/or years to build out the same basic functionality that TeamHost provides automatically.

- Do you have more Gizmos... for commerce, games, Google integration, etc?

Soon!  The API lets programmers create reusable Gizmos for public consumption. Thank you for your patience.

- What kind of apps can I make with TeamHost?

You're limited only by your imagination. For example: boy scouts, fundraising, online games, event planning, or whatever.

- Is TeamHost for serious apps?

Absolutely!  TeamHost is scalable to millions, securely hosted, and accessible via a robust API.

- Is TeamHost Secure?

Yes, TeamHost is hosted by Rackspace. Servers are physically secured, with 24x7 onsite staff, security cameras, biometric access, dedicated firewalls, supporting ISO17799-based policies and procedures. TeamHost incorporates a role-based access control (RBAC) engine for managing users, workshops, roles, privileges, and memberships. It supports timeouts, strong passwords, password expirations, appropriate encryptions, and RSA tokens. SSL is also available.

- Can Virtual Global help build my app?

Yes!  Virtual Global is extensively experienced in building TeamHost apps. Please call to discuss.
Phone: 888.302.4533 x701

- Is the TeamHost platform open?

Yes!  Our API lets developers tightly integrate their legacy Web apps (whether in-house, 3rd-party or open source) on top of the TeamHost platform. The result -- an instant Software as a Service with best-of-breed apps on a value-added platform. To learn more, developers can download the API.

- Can I advertise?

Yes, of course, it's your app! Developers can go to the User Experience tab to set up your advertisement on the customizable advertising area using the WYSIWYG editor or by adding HTML code snippets.

- Can I host my own TeamHost app?

Yes!  Please call to request a quote for a TeamHost Application Server.

- What do I get with zero programming?

The fastest way to the cloud. Create Web 2.0 software in less time, risk and cost

The TeamHost Factory

TeamHost™ is a cloud computing system for launching web-based software in a fraction of the time... often days, rather than months or years.

The TeamHost Factory makes it easy. A point-and-click wizard walks you through the steps to "shell up" your Software as a Service (SaaS) app. You'll define your users’ experience, desired features, data entry forms, reports and much more... no programming required! TeamHost manages the hard parts for you: such as user subscriptions, role based security, multi-tenant architecture and so on

The result -- You'll save money, get to market up to 10 times faster and dramatically reduce risks!

Open Platform for Integration

TeamHost™ serves as a launch pad for your SaaS apps, dramatically lowering your risks, costs and time-to-market. This way, you can focus all your resources on the core functions of your app

How it Works

Your apps automatically inherit robust functionality from the TeamHost Platform™, which might otherwise require millions of dollars and years for you to engineer from the ground up. For example, your apps can instantly support user subscriptions, credit card processing, data entry, email notifications, collaboration, role-based security, workflow, reporting, elasticity, multi-tenancy, fully managed backups and so on.

Building Enterprise Service Oriented Architectures

The API lets you extend functionality, integrate with web services and create reusable modules (Gizmos) that can be shared or sold in a public marketplace. The API is open. That means that you can integrate with existing third-party or open source Web apps and services from a variety of vendors and languages.

Selling your App

You can optionally sell your apps for any price you desire. The TeamHost Platform™ handles all of the credit card processing automatically when your customers purchase. This includes payment processing and sending email receipts to your customers. Simply publish your app and get checks in the mail.

Start with an idea, build your app, publish it for sale - and get checks in the mail when people sign up.

Types of Apps

You will be prompted during the signup process for the type of app you are creating. Choose carefully, as you cannot change this later:

  • To Individuals - Your app will have a “join” button so that anyone can sign up over the internet. If you choose the <credit cards> option, then you can set the fee. Your users will be prompted for credit card information when they sign up.
  • Internal Business Use - enables you to create a closed community app for your own organization. This feature is currently only available via the ad supported model.
  • To Businesses - enables you to create a closed community app for sale to organizations in the form of multi-user subscriptions. You set the fee.
